Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups Milk
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Egg yolks beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 Bananas sliced
  • 1 box Vanilla wafers

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  2. Transfer mixture to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat and cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Gradually whisk a small amount of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks, then return all to the saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Let cool slightly.
  5. In a baking dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding mixture. Repeat layers, ending with pudding mixture on top.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
