Batter
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg beaten
- 8 hot dogs wooden skewers inserted
- as needed vegetable oil for frying
Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk and egg until smooth.
Insert wooden skewers into hot dogs. Dip each hot dog into the batter, coating evenly.
Fry 2-3 corn dogs at a time in the hot oil until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
