  • 4 green tomatoes sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. Slice the green tomatoes into ¼ inch thick slices.
  2. 2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and buttermilk together.
  4. 4. Dip each tomato slice into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. 5. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. 6. Fry the tomatoes in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. 7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
