Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • colored sugars for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll up the dough tightly and shape it into a ring. Place on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely.
  7. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the icing. Drizzle over the cooled cake and decorate with colored sugars.
