Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add grits and cook until thickened, about 20 minutes. Stir in cheese and set aside.
  2. 2. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. 3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and butter. Cook shrimp until pink, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. 4. Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the shrimp. Stir well.
  5. 5. Serve shrimp over grits. Top with crispy bacon.
